I thought long and hard about this one. There really are so many options out there to look at that will give you some results. But I finally chose one fitness program to share with you that I can truly say will give you the best workout, for free.
My criteria for recommending a workout was really strict.
It has to be free.
Bodyweight with no special equipment.
You should be able to do it anywhere.
It has to be doable for all ages.
It has to be ‘tweakable’ for all fitness levels, and will give you a good progression.
I’m writing this post to help you. If you made the decision at the start of the year to get in better shape, to lose your flab, to build some muscle, etc…, then this post is for you.
Last year was my year. In 9 months I lost an estimated 15 lbs of fat, and gained around 10-12 lbs of muscle. I am now about to buy new belts and new pants because the ones I have are really loose. It may not seem much to some, but for me it’s a big achievement. I took control of my body, changed my lifestyle, turned it all around.
Please don’t get me wrong. I don’t mean to brag or anything. I don’t think I did anything superhuman. But it was a lot of hard work. Now I can confidently say that I can carry my wife and 2 daughters out a burning building.
I just want to share my experience to help anyone else who wants to have the same confidence. Here’s exactly what I did.
Have you ever come home from a vacation still feeling tired, as if you needed to take a vacation from your vacation? Or how about the feeling that its sunday night and you still don’t feel rested… like you’re not yet ready for the week. Maybe you don’t know how to rest. True rest, doesn’t just happen. It needs to be intentional.
Last Sunday at church, the pastor talked about Spiritual Fasting. I knew I wanted to experience the spiritual benefits. But still, I’ve been eating 6x a day since March! I was unsure how it would fit into my workout / fitness regime. So I did some research about how other people do it. Here’s what I found out:
Although I’ve written a lot about the body, a lot of the principles in building physical strength also applies to other areas. In the same way that you can strengthen your arms and legs, you can also improve your ability to make decisions, to endure change, or even to find (and stick to) your life’s purpose and direction. If you apply these principles to the other parts of your life, you will have a stronger life. Besides, maintenance is boring. I want to get stronger. To get better!
Do you often feel lazy and sluggish, while other people seem to have so much energy? As a follow-up to my previous post, I’d like to share a podcast by Michael Hyatt about how to boost your energy level. It’s a great listen, as he discusses not just your physical energy, but also your mental and emotional energy to run after your goals, as well as to be excellent in the day-to-day issues of life.
I love reading his posts and listening to his podcast. He’s also one of the big factors why I finally stopped procrastinating about starting a blog. I find his posts very enriching. I hope you do too. 🙂
